Energy

Our energy systems are improving nearly every year. Not only are we growing and harvesting 70% of the food we eat (including 100% of the meat and vegetables), but we’re also producing 15% of the wood we need to heat our campus, including 100% of the wood used to fuel our maple sugaring operation. On top of that, our recent investment in a 124KW solar array means that we will be getting 85% of our electricity use from the bright sun that pours over our farm.

In the summer of 2015, we invested in new energy monitoring technology, allowing us to visualize our energy use on a daily, weekly and monthly basis. We are just beginning to use this dashboard with our students, and hoping to make our energy use a more regular part of our conversation.
