Weekend Programs

On Friday evenings and Saturday mornings, we use Mountain School program time to explore subjects and issues that are integral to the total experience, but which transcend any particular discipline. How we use that time varies from semester to semester. The special sessions can include: large group activities designed to help students increase their understanding of themselves as individuals, and as members of a group; out-side speakers; panels of dairy and vegetable farmers; exercises in understanding ethical and environmental theories such as "The Tragedy of the Commons;" and small group discussions of a common reading. Throughout the semester, students join with faculty to select, design and help facilitate these activities.
