The Mountain School Alumni Committee

This volunteer group of 10-12 leaders supports a dynamic alumni community by connecting graduates to each other and helping them to carry forward the intellectual curiosity, celebration of place and commitment to service we associate with the Mountain School.

Alix Wozniak

Alix (S'09) lives in Greater Boston with her husband and two Labrador retrievers. She works in healthcare delivery focused on primary care operations and currently attends night school as an MBA candidate. She loves adventuring outdoors or spending time at home gardening, cooking, baking, and working on more craft projects than she will ever finish.

Giovana "Gigi" Espejo

Giovana (F'07), along with her husband and cat, are recent transplants to Seattle, WA (via Miami, FL and NYC). A passionate advocate for young adults, Giovana's personal and professional endeavors have always worked to foster greater access to opportunity for young adults and build stronger supports for them at critical moments of transition. Giovana loves large cups of coffee, motorcycle road trips with her husband, and starting (sometimes completing) knitting and embroidery projects.

Jared Rubinstein

Jared (S'05) lives in Minneapolis and works as the curator of the University of Minnesota's Conservatory and Botanical Collection. He spends his time with husband and dog. Together, they like to hike and make everyone else wait while they stop to look at plants.

Josh Drake

Josh (F’97) lives in Seattle and works as a strategy consultant to major philanthropies focused on policy, advocacy, tech, and global development. He spends most of his time outside work enjoying the wilderness, friends, family, and great food with his wife, two kids, and petulant terrier. Before Seattle, Josh spent a decade in D.C. and Cambridge travelling frequently for work with the U.S. Department of State, mostly in Sub-Saharan Africa. He still loves photography, smoked meat, and good debates.

Katie Sharafi

Katie (F'96) lives in Oakland, CA with her husband, two kids and dog, aptly named "Otter" because she loves the ocean. Katie grew up in Colorado, went to school and worked in the North East, but is happily settled in the Bay Area. She helps run a family foundation that invests in nonprofits that empower and support San Francisco's under-served students through school and to reach their highest potential. She loves to travel, host dinner parties, eat out, ski, hike and antique.

Ken Nakamura

Ken (S'02) lives in Joshua Tree, California just down the road from the national park. He works in advertising and has lived in some of the world's largest cities across LA, NY, Shanghai, and Tokyo. But now relishes his time in the high desert with his husband and two dogs.

Lily Zhou

Lucia Perez

Lucia (F'08) lives in Queens, and is an astrophysicist at the Flatiron Institute and Princeton University. She uses supercomputers and machine learning to create galaxies in cosmological simulations, in order to better understand how the Universe formed and works. He went to Collegiate, Brown, and Stanford, with chapters in DC and Delhi. He enjoys swimming, buttery croissants, bluegrass, and election nights.

A lawyer by trade, he's the Chief of Staff to the Inspector General at the U.S. Department of Commerce, working to eradicate fraud and improve the operations of government. A native of the D.C. area, he enjoys outdoor activities with his family (hiking or biking to local breweries is a recent favorite), sports (playing, watching, transporting kids to), gardening (i.e. watching pumpkin plants take over the yard), and enjoying the D.C.'s culinary renaissance (especially fancy donuts).

Serena Sen

Serena (F’16), born and raised in NYC, moved to Maine for college, and decided to stay! She currently lives in Portland, Maine and works with people experiencing homelessness. As a caseworker her days are varied - spent in shelters, courtrooms, or Zoom meetings. She spends her free time reading, doing the NYT crossword, and playing bananagrams. Oh, and she tries to swim in the ocean at least once a week year-round!
