Meet Our Alumni Committee

This volunteer group of 12-15 leaders supports a dynamic alumni community by connecting graduates to each other and helping them to carry forward the intellectual curiosity, celebration of place, and commitment to service we associate with the Mountain School.

  • Alix lives in Greater Boston with her husband and two Labrador retrievers. She works in healthcare delivery focused on primary care operations and currently attends night school as an M.B.A. candidate. She loves adventuring outdoors or spending time at home gardening, cooking, baking, and working on more craft projects than she will ever finish.

  • Cale lives in Charlottesville, Virginia where he’s a Professor of Law at the University of Virginia (UVA). He credits the Mountain School with starting him on a path of making connections between people, places, and environmental stewardship. It’s a path he remains eager to explore today as director of the Environmental Law and Community Engagement Clinic and co-director of the Program in Law, Communities, and the Environment (PLACE), both at UVA Law.

  • Andrew was born and raised in Boston and recently returned there after graduating college with a degree in Biomedical Engineering. He now works at DePuy Synthes, the largest orthopedics company in the world, developing new medical devices and technologies to keep patients moving. Outside of work, he spends his time playing squash, blowing glass, or baking and watching Survivor with his roommates.

  • Jess lives in SLC, UT with her husband and two cats. She's currently Associate Dean for Undergraduate Programs in the business school at the University of Utah, and has spent most of her professional life in higher ed. She moved west for grad school (and the mountains) and hasn't yet found a reason to leave. She currently spends most of her free time on bikes and races all dirt cycling disciplines, but still makes time for skiing and climbing. TMS started her on the path that led her to Utah and she's excited to give back to the program.

  • Katie lives in Oakland, CA with her husband, two kids, and dog, aptly named "Otter" because she loves the ocean. Katie grew up in Colorado, went to school, and worked in the Northeast, but is happily settled in the Bay Area. She helps run a family foundation that invests in nonprofits that empower and support San Francisco's underserved students through school and to reach their highest potential. She loves to travel, host dinner parties, eat out, ski, hike, and antique.

  • Josh lives in Seattle and works as a strategy consultant to major philanthropies focused on policy, advocacy, tech, and global development. He spends most of his time outside work enjoying the wilderness, friends, family, and great food with his wife, two kids, and petulant terrier. Before Seattle, Josh spent a decade in D.C. and Cambridge, traveling frequently for work with the U.S. Department of State, mostly in Sub-Saharan Africa. He still loves photography, smoked meat, and good debates.

  • Lily has a background in nonprofit and civic administration, currently serving as Deputy Chief of Staff for the NYC Comptroller. She lives in New York City with her family, and in her spare time enjoys hiking, hosting friends for dinner, and learning about how to make our cities more green.

  • Linus spends his time between LA and NYC, working as a director and producer in film. He's dedicated to diversifying representation of LGBTQ+ stories and fighting stigma in HIV, addiction, and mental illness. He's currently in development on his first feature film while he grows roots in his new homebase of sunny Los Angeles! In his spare time, he's an expert origami folder and a novice surfer, as well as a James Joyce nerd and a lifelong lover of languages. Definitely more of a dog person than a cat person, and above all a parrot fanatic.

  • Kristen lives in the seacoast of New Hampshire with her spouse, daughter, and two cats. She is a student support counselor at a state community college, where she loves working with students, supporting access to education. She loves traveling, eating delicious food, and having a variety of house plants; over the last three years, she’s been enjoying their home, backyard fire pit, and raised beds- and newly added ‘catio’ for their cats to experience the outdoors.

  • Matt is the founding partner of Shoreway Partners, a boutique consulting firm that helps businesses and nonprofits across the Midwest grow, perform, and stay true to what matters most. With nearly two decades of experience in strategy, operations, and organizational development, he has worked with Fortune 500 companies and small businesses alike, with a particular passion for helping entrepreneurial companies find their footing and scale.


    Matt has a deep commitment to giving back. He co-founded Engage! Cleveland, helped launch
    the Rainbow Babies Camp; Children's Foundation Associate Board, and currently serves on the board at Hiram House Camp — a role that hits close to home. At the Mountain School, Matt learned how outdoor education can sharpen the skills that matter most: knowing a place, thinking flexibly, and working well with others. He carries his core skills from the Mountain School with him daily in his business and his personal life. When he's not at the whiteboard, you'll find Matt sailing on the Great Lakes or adventuring outside with his partner Mary and their two boys. He lives in Bainbridge, Ohio.

  • Mike lives in San Francisco with his wife and two children, one of which is also a TMS alum (F24). He teaches criminal law and policy at Stanford Law School and runs a clinic, which represents people sentenced to life in prison for minor crimes. He also chairs a criminal justice reform committee for the State of California. He enjoys hiking with his dog Rolo, cooking, watching TV, and dim sum.

  • Molly lives in Washington, DC, with her husband, also a Mountain School alum (S'88), and three kids (S'20, S'23, and S'25). She has a background in public health and spent over a decade working in environmental advocacy. Currently she is studying metalsmithing and jewelry design, and working at an art jewelry gallery. Free time passions include playing guitar, reading sci-fi, baking cakes, and hiking with her dog Ozzy Osbourne.

  • Rob lives in Washington, D.C. with his wife and two kids - Hank (8) and Elle (3).  He’s worked as an attorney in the private sector, the White House, the Department of Interior, and now at the Department of Commerce, where the mission is to eradicate fraud and improve the operations of government.  A native of the D.C. area, he enjoys outdoor activities with his family, sports (playing, watching, transporting kids to), gardening (i.e. watching pumpkin plants take over the yard), and enjoying the D.C.'s culinary renaissance (especially fancy donuts).

  • Ruby lives in Brooklyn, thankfully only a few short blocks from her two favorite places: Brooklyn Botanic Garden (pictured) and Prospect Park. She works at a nonprofit think tank on election security issues and is the chair of her staff union. In her free time, she helps elect progressives to local and state office and sees as much theater as possible.

  • Serena, born and raised in NYC, moved to Maine for college, and decided to stay! She currently lives in Portland, Maine and works with people experiencing homelessness. As a caseworker her days are varied - spent in shelters, courtrooms, or Zoom meetings. She spends her free time reading, doing the NYT crossword, and playing bananagrams. Oh, and she tries to swim in the ocean at least once a week year-round!
