Situated on 418 acres of forest, farmland, and academic buildings, The Mountain School’s campus sits in rural central Vermont. Vershire is a small town surrounded by miles of forest, about a 40-minute drive from Hanover, NH and ~3 hours from Boston.

General Visits & Tours

We warmly welcome family, friends, and prospective students to visit our campus. To schedule a visit, please email us or call (802) 685-4520.

Admissions Visit Days

We host formal admissions visit days during the fall semester (October–November) and after admission decisions in April. Prospective students should contact the Admissions Team to arrange a tour.

Driving Directions & Road Conditions

Important Note: The Mountain School is located on a dirt road, and in snow or muddy conditions, an all-wheel drive or high-clearance vehicle may be necessary. Cell coverage is limited near campus; be sure to download your route before departure.

From the South & East

Take I-91 to exit 14 (Thetford)

Turn left onto Route 113, drive ~15 miles to Vershire

Past the Vershire post office, turn left onto Vershire Center Road

At the T-intersection, turn left; the school is about one mile ahead on the left

From the North

Drive I-91 south to exit 14 (Thetford)

Turn right onto Route 113 and proceed via Vershire Center Road

Continue to the campus, one mile past the intersection on the left

From the West

Follow Route 113 east toward Vershire

Near Ward’s Garage, continue on 113 for ~1.7 miles, then turn right onto Brown Road

Proceed straight at the stop sign; The Mountain School is less than a mile ahead on the left

We recommend the following airports and transit options for visitors and students:

Lebanon, NH (LEB) ~40 minutes Regional airport with campus transport arrangeableable. Expect possible winter weather delays; plan extra travel time.
Boston, MA (BOS) ~2h 30m Accessible via Dartmouth Coach to Lebanon; coordinate onward transport with us.
Burlington, VT (BTV) ~1h 20m We do not provide direct transportation from Burlington — visitors must arrange ground transport.

Dartmouth Coach: A cost-effective bus line connecting Boston, Lebanon, and NYC.

Amtrak Vermonter Line: Runs through White River Junction; somewhat slower but a scenic option.
