You’re about to begin four transformative months at the Mountain School, one of the nation’s leading semester boarding schools.

Nestled in Vermont’s Upper Valley, between the Green Mountains and the White Mountains, our campus blends rigorous academics, community living, and hands-on farm and outdoor education.

To finalize your enrollment, complete all required forms through our Blackbaud portal.

Key Enrollment Deadlines for All Students

March 21, 2026 – Enrollment Contract & Deposit Due

  • Both parents must log into Blackbaud to sign the contract

  • Enrollment is finalized once both the contract and the deposit are received

Payment Options:

Important: Your spot is not confirmed until the deposit has been received and cleared.

May 15, 2026 – Course Selection Due

  • Fall Break: October 10–14, 2025

    • Depart by 10:00 AM | Return by 5:00 PM

Tuition, Financial Aid & Insurance

Understanding Your Tuition Invoice

After your enrollment is confirmed, families receive invoices through FACTS. Your invoice will include:

  • Total tuition and fees

  • Any Mountain School financial aid awarded

  • Home school aid (if applicable)

Questions or special payment needs? Contact our Business Manager to discuss alternative plans.

Tuition Protection: All students automatically receive complimentary tuition insurance after enrollment.

Health Insurance Requirements

All students must maintain active health insurance throughout the semester.

Need coverage? Visit healthcare.gov for options.

Optional supplemental accident insurance is available, but does not replace primary coverage.

Refund Policy

  • Enrollment Deposit: Non-refundable

  • Tuition Refunds: Tuition paid (beyond the deposit) is refundable if a student withdraws before the semester begins

Vermont School Immunization Requirements

The State of Vermont requires proof of immunization for all enrolled students to protect community health.

Standardized Testing at The Mountain School

Students may continue college prep during their semester by taking PSAT, SAT, ACT, or AP exams on campus.

Frequently Asked Questions

Will I have internet access, and can I bring my laptop?
Yes. Wireless internet is available in academic buildings. Students often bring personal laptops; loaner laptops are available if needed.

Phone Policy: Students do not have access to their cell phones during the semester, promoting digital minimalism and a deeper connection with peers and nature. Landline phones are available in the dorms.

Can I stay in shape for my sport?
Absolutely. While The Mountain School doesn’t compete athletically, many students train daily.
Fitness opportunities include:

  • Running on trails and local roads

  • Pickup basketball and ultimate frisbee

  • Pull-up bars and dorm workout areas

  • Strength training through farm and woods crew work

  • On-campus gym access

Many Mountain School alumni have gone on to play collegiate and professional sports — motivated, disciplined athletes thrive here.

Should I bring my musical instrument?
Yes! Musicians are encouraged to bring their instruments and participate in:

  • Solo practice sessions

  • Informal jam circles

  • Group performances and coffeehouse nights

  • Piano access in the dining hall
