Support the Mountain School:
Fund Our 2025–26 Priorities
Help Shape the Future of Experiential Education in Vermont
At the Mountain School of Milton Academy, every gift fuels our mission: to cultivate a diverse, interdependent community of scholars who learn to know a place and care for it. Your support ensures that high school juniors continue to live, study, and grow on our 418-acre hilltop campus in Vershire, Vermont, connecting deeply to self, community, and the natural world.
Our 2025–26 Fundraising Goals
Your contribution directly strengthens the three pillars of our work this year: Access, Community, and Stewardship.
Expand Access — Goal: $500,000
We believe the Mountain School experience should be open to every qualified student, regardless of financial means.
While we, the Mountain School, regularly offer over $500,000 in financial aid and scholarships, annual requests for aid exceed $1 million. Your donation will help us bridge that gap, ensuring talented students from all backgrounds can attend and thrive.
Your gift can fund:
$40,000 — Full scholarship for a student
$3,000 — Travel costs for a student
$1,000 — Books and materials for a student for a semester

Restore & Repair Our Historic Campus — Goal: $500,000
Our beloved campus buildings are as full of character as the students who inhabit them. But time and Vermont winters take their toll. In 2025–26, we plan to launch a full facilities audit to prioritize restoration and infrastructure improvements while preserving the historic integrity that makes the Mountain School unique.
Your gift can support:
$30,000 — New oven for the kitchen
$10,000 — Hen house for our growing flock
$1,000 — New chainsaw for commons work
Revive the Forestry Program — Goal: $100,000
Our forest is both a classroom and an ecosystem, a living laboratory where students learn sustainable stewardship. As the climate changes, so must our approach. We’re partnering with local foresters to update our forest management plan and train faculty to teach climate-responsive forestry practices.
Your gift can fund:
$10,000 — Professional development for faculty
$3,000 — Student fieldwork and data collection
$1,000 — Updated trail management tools
